The Javelin Group, LLC, and its affiliates make strategic investments in real estate assets and related operating companies primarily through the development of senior living facilities and hospitality properties. Javelin’s core investment philosophy is to partner with quality operators to facilitate the growth of its network and achieve its strategic objectives. Since 2004 the principals of Javelin have deployed in excess of $100 million in equity commitments from a combination of institutional investors, finance companies & investment funds, and high net worth individuals.
Mr. Naul founded The Javelin Group, LLC in 2004, and is responsible for sourcing transactions, all phases of development, capitalization and structuring, and investor and operator relations. Prior to Javelin, Mr. Naul worked as a Managing Director for the Hampstead Group from 1989 to 2003, where he was active in all aspects of the firm’s real estate and corporate investments. His responsibilities included conceiving and implementing single asset and portfolio acquisition strategies and for asset management of the firm’s investments in the senior healthcare and hospitality arenas. Within the healthcare sector, Mr. Naul oversaw the implementation of workout strategies of Hampstead’s $130 million distressed investment in Omega Healthcare Investors, a troubled healthcare REIT. Within the hospitality sector, he was instrumental in the acquisition, renovation and disposition of Hampstead’s two major lodging initiatives, Bristol Hotels & Resorts and Wyndham Hotels. He also co-managed the acquisition of 140 acres of prime development property in uptown Dallas, Texas out of a major corporate bankruptcy. Mr. Naul received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University.
Mr. Eden joined Javelin in 2006 and is responsible for transaction management, portfolio management, and investor reporting. Mr. Eden works closely with Javelin’s lenders, investors and operating partners. Mr. Eden came to Javelin with broad experience in many phases of commercial real estate finance and investment. Prior to Javelin he served as a Director for The Patriot Group, LLC, a manager of two real estate opportunity funds. At Patriot, Mr. Eden was responsible for the underwriting and due diligence process, portfolio management, and financial reporting. Prior to Patriot, Mr. Eden served as the Director of Real Estate Underwriting at ORIX Capital Markets, LLC, a subsidiary of ORIX USA (NYSE:IX), where he assessed, reported, and managed credit risk across ORIX’s investment portfolio and directed its acquisition due diligence process. He also served on ORIX’s Loan Origination, Credit and Special Servicing Committees. Mr. Eden received an MBA from Texas A&M University and a BBA in accounting from Abilene Christian University and is a former Certified Public Accountant.
